Backing up email is not always easy, mainly because you need to find the right tool for the specific email client you're using.. unless you use Amic Email Backup.
This excellent backup application enables you to save all data in your email client as a backup copy you can then restore on a fresh installation or a completely new computer by using exactly the same program. Amic Email Backup supports the most popular clients, including Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape Messenger, IncrediMail and PocoMail.
The whole process is really easy: simply select your client, pick the data you want to include in the backup copy and let the program take care of the rest. What's more, you can also follow the program's wizard-style interface which is even easier.
Like I said, the program has also a restoring tool which you can use to bring your data back to the email client. Amic Email Backup also supports backup scheduling: use it to always keep an updated backup copy of your messages and you won't loose important information ever again. The only thing missing, apparently, is the ability to create incremental backups.
With Amic Email Backup you can easily create security copies of any data in the most popular email clients. Plus, the schedule tool lets you leave the hard work to the program.

Facebook, Google Warned to be Blocked in India Like China

During a hearing regarding “obscene, objectionable and defamatory” posted on Facebook and Google, the Delhi high court has warned social networking site Facebook and search engine Google that websites can be "blocked" in India like in China if they fail to devise a mechanism to check and remove objectionable material from their web pages.
India wants Facebook, Google, Yahoo and other major internet companies to prescreen user content before it’s uploaded on their websites to make sure that no disparaging, inflammatory or defamatory content ever goes online again.
"Like China, we will block all such websites," Justice Suresh Kait said while asking counsel for Facebook and Google to develop a mechanism to keep a check and remove "offensive and objectionable" material from their web pages.
Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Google India, said the postings of "obscene, objectionable and defamatory" articles and other things cannot be "filtered" or "monitored".
"No human interference is possible, and moreover, it can’t be feasible to check such incidents. Billions of people across the globe, post their articles on the website. Yes, they may be defamatory, obscene but cannot be checked," he said.
He assured the court that if the complainant provides defamatory articles to Google India, then it can use "its good office" in getting them removed by its holding US-based firm.
Additional solicitor general (ASG) AS Chandhiok, appearing for the Centre, objected to the plea of Google India saying the US-based Google Inc has "sufficient mechanism" to know that what is offending material.
Facebook, Google case is being heard by Delhi High Court and is yet to reach a decision.

Synchronize bookmarks across multiple machines (Xmarks 3) free download

Many of us work on two or more computers, and it can be a pain sometimes when you can't remember that site you bookmarked at work later on at home.

Xmarks, previously Foxmarks, is an extension currently for Firefox (IE and Safari support is pending), that syncs your bookmarks and site passwords anywhere you have it installed. You have to be signed in to Xmarks to access your bookmarks, so it is secure. Xmarks also adds an icon to your URL bar, which gives you a drop-down frame of information about the site your on, and a list of similar sites.

As Xmarks is cross platform, you can sync between different operating systems, or wherever Firefox runs, which is useful for people that Window at work and OSX at home. Synchronizing takes a couple of seconds, and can be automated at shutdown if you wish. If you are worried about having passwords "in the cloud", you can delete them from the Xmars server from the settings window. Alternatively, you can setup Xmarks to run through your own server, meaning you data will not be uploaded to theirs.

The synchronizing feature is great on Xmarks, and is very smooth. The additional search features are nice too - having related sites a click away is a great way to discover more on the web.

It'll be even better once it's cross browser, bet even so Xmarks is a great synchronizing tool...

Top 10 SEO Tips and Tricks For Your Website

1. Social Media

The single biggest thing you can do for your site and boost SEO is to have a social media presence.
Sites like Twitter, Flickr and Facebook and now Google+ are going to be good avenues to expose your site and get people to notice your brand.
Social networks are also the golden goose for brand reputation management these days and for connecting with new audience.
Moreover, search engines like Google started to pay attention to social media and use data from social networks as rank signals.

2. Connect Your Accounts

If you have a Twitter account, a Facebook page and a Flickr account, you should connect all those accounts together.

This strategy can help with building up links improve your SEO and it gives your audience more ways to find you and your content.
For example, a Twitter follower could find your link on Twitter and follow it to Facebook.
Connecting accounts just gives you a wider reach and consolidates all the real followers into a small but profitable group, it also makes outreach much easier.

3. Analytics and Tracking

You need to understand where your clicks are coming from, who is referring them, what search queries drive the most traffic and which have potential to do so as well as how many ads are being clicked on.

Knowing where your traffic is coming from and how your audience behaves, will help you shape your site into something that more people will want to visit.

So having a website without checking your Webmaster Tools Account or Google Analytics installed is a big no-no.

4. Keyword Research

One of the most important things you can do to improve SEO is to research your keywords extensively.

You can use keyword tools like Advanced Web Ranking, Scribe SEO or Google Keyword AdWords Tool to determine which words and phrases will be most effective.

Finding a niche in the keyword world can create a unique place for your site that will have less competition.

Simply relying on keywords tools will unfortunately do you no good in most cases as you will be stuck with broad keyword matches, when we say thorough research we mean going deep and getting all the variations and long tails you can get your hands on.

5. Easy Sharing

Allow your users to instantly Tweet a link from your page, or like your content on Facebook.

This will help to create the backlinks and link juice that you need to increase your following and increase your keyword rankings, not in the direct way, but getting your content in front of thousands of eyes can get you there.

Also allow your readers to instantly follow you on social media sites with a simple click of the mouse. Doing so will let your readers to make a deeper connection with you and your content.

6. Internal Linking

Internal linking of your webpages can be an amazing factor from an SEO standpoint.
It can ensure that your pages will get spidered by Google and other search engines. It can also help to increase the keyword rankings of a given page within your site.

Good internal linking can also help with increasing the relevance of certain keywords that you want emphasized on your site.

7. Relevant Content

If you are going to guarantee that you get good traffic, you should make good content.

Quality content is content that is engaging and relevant to your audience.

Anything that sounds like it was designed for robots to find will result in your page not keeping your customers for very long, in other words it will increase your bounce rate and lower your quality score.

8. Navigation

Have a table of contents at the top of your site where a reader can simply click a link and navigate to the content that is most appealing to that reader.

Provide clear anchor text and think about adding a site map as well to enhance ease of navigation. Although this is way too basic I had to mention it, even though most web designers know onsite SEO, some tend to sacrifice usability for appeal, which can be a costly gamble.

9. Guest Posting and Networking

Contributing to other sites can be a good way to build links and get your name out there.

The more quality backlinks you can garner for your site, the better off you will be.

Make sure that you are contributing to sites that have a lot of readers so you don’t spend time on a fruitless endeavor.

Also do comments, not in a sense where you will get comments as backlinks, but to engage with other readers and bloggers and get yourself known in the community, which is the fastest way for newcomers to get some traction and traffic.

  10. Pay Attention to Usability

Including site search and 404 error templates on your page can make it easier for your user to navigate.

A 404 occurs when a page cannot be found, but a customized 404 can allow your user to type what they are searching for manually and continue searching or even better, give them a fully customized 404 page with navigation and suggestions. It keeps the reader on your site.

When it comes down to it, we all need a site that contains quality content that can get a lot of links back to our pages.

Focusing on relevant keywords and using those keywords throughout the site as well as interacting with users is the only way to do business successfully.

Tracking our stats and analytics, connecting and making sure users are happy is the way to go, not just through backlinks, SEO starts from your website and then expands, remember that.

Set Permissions for Shared Files and Folders

Today tip will help you to manage folder permission.

Sharing of files and folders can be managed in two ways. If you chose simplified file sharing, your folders can be shared with everyone on your network or workgroup, or you can make your folders private. (This is how folders are shared in Windows 2000.) However, in Windows XP Professional, you can also set folder permissions for specific users or groups. To do this, you must first change the default setting, which is simple file sharing. To change this setting, follow these steps:

•Open Control Panel, click Tools, and then click Folder Options.

•Click the View tab, and scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings list.

•Clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box.

•To manage folder permissions, browse to the folder in Windows Explorer, right–click the folder, and then click Properties. Click the Security tab, and assign permissions, such as Full Control, Modify, Read, and/or Write, to specific users.

You can set file and folder permissions only on drives formatted to use NTFS, and you must be the owner or have been granted permission to do so by the owner.

I found this piece of software from www.smallvideosoft.com. You can just look for "Freez Flv to Mp3 Converter" to download the FLV to MP3 converter!  In case you do not know, the FLV is the video format (i.e. flash video) that you download from youtube for example. :)

I love this software simply because of 2 things.

  • It is a very small program! Well, this is exactly what I need which is a software to convert FLV to MP3. Please do not give me the extra stuff that I don't need. :)

Well, the sound quality is good too,. I tried to convert the MP4 to MP3 and it worked too! Now I can listen to MP3 directly and no longer need to open FLV! Yeah, hope you will find this free software useful too!

Japan developing cyber weapon

TOKYO: Japan has been developing a virus that could track down the source of a cyber attack and neutralise its programme, the daily Yomiuri Shimbun reported Sunday.
The weapon is the culmination of a 179 million yen ($2.3 million) three-year project entrusted by the government to technology maker Fujitsu Ltd to develop a virus and equipment to monitor and analyse attacks, the daily said.
The United States and China are reported to have put so-called cyber weapons into practical use, Yomiuri said.
Japan will have to make legal amendments to use a cyber weapon as it could violate the country’s law against the manufacture of a computer virus, the daily said.
In November a computer system run by about 200 Japanese local governments was struck.
In October, Japan’s parliament came under cyber attack, apparently from the same emails linked to a China-based server that have already hit several lawmakers’ computers.
It was also reported that Japanese computers at embassies and consulates in nine countries were infected with viruses in the summer.
Currently, the virus is being tested in a “closed environment” to examine its applicable patterns.
